“We started by handing out instant cash donations to those of our officers who were affected the most. We then rented a boat to move Ambulance Personnel from South to Port of Spain so that we could guarantee our Ambulance Services would be fully functional at a time where it was highly likely for those services to be needed. When the full extent and enormity of this disaster began to show, we started buying and providing truckloads of flood relief items to the general population: wet vacuum cleaners; shovels; gloves; rubber boots; first aid kits; cooked food as well as non-perishable food items; milk; cleaning materials; toiletries; mattresses; clothes; school supplies. For the last couple of days and around the clock, many of our employees volunteered to assist and still are assisting in the distribution of those items to various regional corporations and relief centres as well as directly to persons in affected areas, with the hope of bringing relief to hundreds of our fellow citizens. This corporate effort would not have been possible without the support and contributions of Amalgamated Security’s employees at all levels.”
ASSL also is paying for a cleaning crew “who are going from door to door to assist persons in cleaning up their flooded houses. The company would like to further thank the many of its employees who simply saw other persons in need and started to cook food for them and helped them in their homes.”

Earlier this year Amalgamated Security commenced operations in Antigua joining Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, and St Lucia and adding to the growing list of Caribbean countries now served by the Company. Hurricanes Irma and Maria have definitely brought untold hardship to many Caribbean countries. In Antigua, because of the widespread destruction on the island of Barbuda from Hurricane Irma, the Government evacuated all the residents from the island to Antigua in advance of the arrival of Hurricane Maria.
Corporate citizens plus the general public have responded in providing relief and assistance where possible to the hurricane ravaged islands. Amalgamated Security is presently playing a part in that assistance by providing security officers free of charge at one of the shelters that the Antiguan Government has created for the residents of Barbuda.

Amalgamated Security Savings Lives (ASSL) in collaboration with the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) hosted a Tactical First Responder Training for Police Officers in Suriname.
